The table and Y-axis rail are constructed from granite to take full advantage of its outstanding natural thermal density, and the noncontact linear motors have no wearing parts which improve reliability and reduce maintenance. The drives are strategically positioned to allow any heat generated to be absorbed by the granite, thermally isolating them from the axis encoders.
